Downing. According to the Stamford directory listing from 1892 to 1897 he was a fire engine driver. He had two addresses at that time, Fagan St and 8 Railroad Ave. He was married to Mary Agnes Downing (nee Downey). She was the daughter of Timothy & Bridget Downey (nee O'Sullivan) from Ireland. She was born in Connecticut about 1850. According to the 1860 CT census she was 10 years old in 1860. She had several brothers and sisters. According to the 1907 Stamford directory, she was a widow and lived on Hill Street. Maurice & Mary Agnes had at least two sons that I know of, my grandfather, John J. Downing, who was a bus driver in Stamford for many years and Charles Downing. The only information I have on Maurice is what I have listed above.
