Born Dec. 8, 1925, in Bridgeport, Conn., to Hungarian immigrant parents, the late Andrew and Barbara (Hegedecz) Gyorke, Mr. Gyorke had been a Yolo County resident for 40 years. He entered Tufts University, Medford, Mass., in 1942. In early 1943, during WWII, he joined the Naval ROTC program and was transferred to Coyote Point, South San Francisco, where he became a diesel engineer for the fleet in the South Pacific. He worked in the white collar crime department in the Yolo County District Attorney's Office. He was later self-employed as a commodities broker and warehouse owner. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sue Chiles Gyorke; children, Drew Gyorke and wife Mary, Barbara Batt and husband Bill, Teresa Gyorke, Andrew Gyorke Jr. and wife Sarah, David Gyorke and wife Alison Good, Elizabeth "Libby" Seymore and husband Will Jr.; and grandchildren, Michelle and Ryan Gyorke, Christopher, Edward and Angela Rose Batt, Clare and Drew Gyorke, and Myles Gyorke-Seymore. Also surviving is his brother, George; niece, Barbara Robertson and family of Gracemont, Okla.; and nephew George Gyorke Jr. and wife Delores of Nova Scotia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Barbara (Hegedecz) Gyorke; and sister, Barbara (Gyorke). The family requests memorials be directed to Knights of Columbus, St. James, 200 West 14th St., Davis 95616. Services: A memorial Mass and celebration of life is scheduled at 11 a.m. Friday, July 2, at St. James Catholic Church, Davis, with a reception to follow.
