I'm looking for the parents of Lyman PORTER who was born Nov. 1805 in Weston, Ct. He married about 1830 in Sherman, Mary JOYCE, daughter of Stephen and Thankful (CONGER) JOYCE. Mary was born in Sherman, 28 Feb. 1810. Lyman died in Bethel, 30 May 1882, and Mary, his wife, died at Bethel, 18 Sept. 1894. I believe that Lyman had a brother Nelson, born about 1801 and the their father may have been named John PORTER, but I can't find a record for that. Connecticut Families by Cutter and in Biographical Sketches for Fairfield County, both say that Lyman was the son of Noah and Nabby (CUMMINGS) PORTER, but I am sure that this is incorrect.
