I found my grandmothers date of death this way and also could trace where my ancestors lived and if they moved to a different area. Anything after 1939 will not give you this information as City Directories became telephone directories. In some states no directories were not published during WWII. Another way town clerk office as they will do a 10 year search for you. I have had very good luck with this but I knew a time period to search. The death certificates in Connecticut are still $5. A lot of the state are know rising their cost of any death, marriage or birth records. I hope this is some help and you can contact me if you need further direction.
