Westchester County Genealogical Society (NY) Upcoming Meeting On Saturday, March 11, 2006, The Westchester County Genealogical Society will present “Ellis Island and Beyond: Immigration to the US” a talk by Professor Angela D. Danzi at their meeting at 10am. The meeting will be held at the Aldersgate Methodist Church, 600 Broadway in Dobbs Ferry (across from Mercy College on route 9). Guests are welcome ($3 donation is requested). There will be refreshments and genealogical networking starting at 9:30am. Angela D. Danzi is a Professor and Chairperson in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Farmingdale State University of New York since 1990. She was co-editor of the 1993 collection Italian Americans and Their Public and Private Life. It is estimated that nearly 100 million Americans can trace their ancestry to those who arrived through Ellis Island. Now restored, Ellis Island was the principal immigrant port from 1892 to 1954.
