    3. Louise, As Kay says, go to your nearest Latter Day Saints Family History Center. If the records are in existence, especially from New England, the LDS has filmed them years ago. I go once a week and have found everything I am looking for (which is in existence) for the price of $3.25 postage plus tax (13 cents for me at 4.16% - it depends what your sales tax is). To see if the LDS has the records you are looking for -- go to www.familysearch.com. Click on "Library," then click "Family History Catalog, click on "Place Search," Fill out "place" with the name of the town, the county, or the state. (I have better luck if I don't fill out "part of.") You will get a list of records available and then descriptions of what is on the film. I live in Hawaii and my films take one week from Salt Lake City. Happy Hunting!
