His estate was liable for the return of that money. You should have filed a claim with the son. If he was a member of APG, an Accredited Genealogist or was Certified, these bodies should be able to help you recover your money. All is not lost, as most of the CT vital records are available on microfilm as I stated in another post I just sent.
