Hi Andrea, I think you have me mixed up with someone else who gave you the Laurel Heights info. The hospital I'm referring to, as I mentioned, was in Bridgeport, not Shelton which is about 15 miles from Bridgeport. It was a restricted hospital because of the TB patients. and it was operated by the City of Bridgeport. I just can't remember what the name of it was, something "pretty", I think. As kids, we used to make a big circle around it, because it took care of people with all kinds of chronic infectious diseases. As far as I know, there were no Jewish facilities of any kind at that time, nor are there any in the vicinity even now. If Fred lived in Bridgeport, he went to the Bridgeport TB hospital, not to Laurel Heights. But you may have a problem prying a death record out of Bridgeport. They are notoriously UN cooperative! Call the Bridgeport Library Historical Room. They will tell you the name of the TB hospital that was in Bridgeport. Sorry I can't think of it. They may even be able to find out about Fred from their City Directories.
