I'm inquiring about the Cressy/Crissy/Crissey/Crissie & Hamiltons that came to this county & started out there & then moved to NY & other places & then on to IL, IA, MN, etc. I'm back as far as Abraham cressy born 1794 in & around NY. He married Cynthia Townsend & they had 3 children in Allegany Co., NY. I know there were a lot of Townsends in NY also. Abraham's son Byron Crissy married Sarah E. Hamilton in 1858 & they lived in Rush Twp, JoDaviess Co., IL (they were on the census there in 1860, 1870, 1880). Sarah's father was Thomas Hamilton married to Melinda (First wife) & Thomas's father was Henry Hamilton died in Auburn, Ny Cayuga Co. married to Pauline Coy & they had 7 children, Thomas was the 6th. Does anyone out there know anything about these people, I do have more info, I'm trying to find Sarah's burial place as Byron died at 58 yrs & is buried in LeRoy, Mn & Sarah lived on to be 82 yrs old. She rec'd a Civil War pension check in Mystic,IA where she lived but is not buried there. A distant family member thought she was sent east to be buried in a family plot, & thought it was called Highland cemetery.
