    3. Dear People, Back in December when Stamford directories were free for a bit on Ancestry, I struck gold but didn't realize it!!! My hard-to-find ancestor is my great-grandmother, Henrietta Emeline HOYT, who was a Stamford HOYT, but was born in Washington Territory in 1859, married in Boston and died in Melbourne, Australia. Her father was Samuel HOYT. For several years now I have been trying to work out who the "EVH" who sent her postcards in 1905-1906 (to Vermont) could be. As well as that I have known from family hearsay that she grew up with a cousin called Miss M. Virginia (Jennie) McKay. In December, I did a search for Hoyt in Stamford on the business directory, and came up with 240 matches. I trawled through them, but found little that looked helpful, except a Miss Emeline V. HOYT at Bedford, cor. Hoyt in 1887-1888. I saved the page because Emeline is my ggm's middle name. Silly me!! I didn't realize what her initials were. :) I also searched on McKAY, and totally overlooked Miss M.V. McKAY, teacher, Bedford cor. Hoyt, though I also saved that page. (The only other McKAYs were a vet, Dr. D.J. McKAY and John McKAY at YT Works on Ann Street.) Today, I printed these 2 sheets and finally noticed the 2 ladies at the same address. A couple of hours later the EVH initials hit me. Does anybody out there have further light to shed? Who is Emeline V. Hoyt? Could she have had a close relative called Samuel? How is she related to Miss M.V. McKay? What is the intersection of Bedford and Hoyt like now? Where do I look next? Hoping someone has some suggestions. Rosemary in Melbourne, Australia
