His father was supposedly a "Sea Captain and an Artist." I have never found his father's name. I notice in the 1790 census at Fairfield Co, Greenwich twp. CT, that there was a "Captain Eli Reed." Could there be a connection? My ancestor Daniel Reed and wife Prudence (Shepard) had the following children who were born in MA and NY: Abigail, Daniel, William, Lewis, John W., Mary, and Cornelia. I noticed a head of household "Abigail Reed" in the 1790 census at Fairfield Co., Greenwich twp. also. Since Daniel's oldest daughter was given the name Abigail, I thought there could be a connection there also. Does anyone have information on this Reed family? Thank you for any advice you can give me.
