Pat, I am also descendant of the Pinckney/Hill families of what is now Putnam Co., NY. Your Stephen (1791-1873) and my Dorothy (1797-1878) were siblings. Both married members of the Hill family. "Genealogy of the Hill, Dean, Pinckney, Austin...Families," by Franklin Couch, 1907, is the book you seek.
