    1. [CTFAIRFI] THE HISTORIC MEAD FAMILY BURYING GROUNDS ASSOCIATION LAUNCHES HISTORICAL WEBSITE
    2. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Jeffrey Bingham Mead at history@aloha.net THE HISTORIC MEAD FAMILY BURYING GROUNDS ASSOCIATION LAUNCHES HISTORICAL WEBSITE Jeffrey Bingham Mead, president and founder of The Historic Mead Family Burying Grounds Association, has announced the launching of an historical resource website at www.meadburyinggrounds.org. The mission of the association is to ensure the sustained preservation of three Mead family burying grounds in the town and of ancestral grave markers of family members in other cemeteries. The association was incorporated in 1990 in conjunction with the 350th year celebrations of the history of the town. According to Mead, "the web site will facilitate dialogue and communication among Mead family descendants and friends worldwide. We're also interested in encouraging excellence in online historical research and publishing. We also seek to use the web site to generate financial support for the continued care of the cemeteries under our stewardship. " The association is publishing an online journal of history entitled 'Hallowed Grounds.' "We felt our family descendants and friends would benefit from having a forum in which the history of these sites and those interred therein could be explored and published. In this way, our far-flung relatives can have the benefit of access to information without traveling far to acquire it. This helps serve the educational mission of our association most effectively." "All of these sites were at one time overgrown and neglected for many years. Prior to the initial clean up efforts at two of these sites the taller markers seemed to struggle for recognition above weeds and debris. Today, the grounds are maintained, fallen stones stand tall and have been cleaned, and our history is transmitted continuously over the Internet for the benefit of Mead family descendants near and far across the world," said Mead.
