Greetings! I am looking for information about my ancestors, whose name was Clock. My gg grandfather was Henry W. Clock, son of Samuel Clock and Mary (Polly?) Reed Clock. Samuel's father was Martin Clock Jr., whose father was Martin Clock. Samuel had a brother, Hiram. Hiram and Samuel migrated to Tompkins County in the early 1830s. On the county's Rootsweb site, I found an entry that showed Samuel Clock and a Polly Reed were married in 1818. The questions I have are: 1) Was Polly a nickname for Mary? 2) How would I find out who Polly's parents were? 3) Is there any information on the Clock family in a local history book? 4) Where would I look or who should I contact for further information on this family?
