Hello All: Last Monday I went to the Ridgefield, Ct. Town Clerk office to locate some records. I did locate 3 different notations which pertained to my family. These were all in the mid 1700's so, of course, were only one line each on a page of many listings. They were very busy and short-handed and could not give me a copy so I filled out the form - gave them $15.00 for 3 copies and, unaware of their procedure - and left. I received yesterday 3 printed forms with the ancestors names filled in - with the certification - and no actual copies from the books. I was very disappointed that they did not give me actual copies from the books. I certainly understand that they do not want just anyone to make copies from these delicate records - in fact I know that 2 of the pages were encased in plastic to preserve them - one was not. Frankly, I could have copied down the information myself and saved the $15.00 as, to me, it was much more important to have copies from the original books than the certification. What is done is done but would appreciate any comments if this is the usual procedure with the records in Fairfield County - this is the first time I have run into this and have received many copies from all over. Thank you - Ahlive
