    3. Hello! Does anyone have any Keatings or Hylands in or local to Stamford or Darien, Connecticut? If so, I'd like to get in touch with you. My family settled briefly in Stamford in the late 1850's after coming to the states. Wondering if they perhaps stayed with or near family before moving south to Maryland, I asked the Stamford Historical Society for information on a John F. Keating Sr in their vertical files, and they replied with the following. (What particularly piques my interest is that my immigrant ancesters were John C. and Jula A. (Hyland) Keating. Note the Keating/Hyland couple below.) Slán! John -----Original Message----- Mr.Keating: In reply to your email, dated 29 May 2001, the Vertical File you referred to only contains 3 postcards addressed to Hon. Judge John F. Keating, Sr. He was the Mayor of Stamford, CT from 1924-1926 (Republican). I was not successful in locating any information regarding your g-g-grandfather - the Stamford City Directories we have begin in 1872 and the only reference I could find in addition to the cards, are land transactions in the Stamford Land Records for a John Keating in 1764 and Robert Keating in 1882. Buried in St. John's Cemetery, in Darien, CT, is Julia S. Keating, b.1862 - d.1931; Mary Keating Hyland, wife of George F., Jr., d.29 Sept. 1904, age 36y.9m.8d.; Mary F. Keating Connell, wife of Martin, b.15 May 1854- d.22 June 1900. Good luck with your research.
