    1. [CTFAIRFI] CT. Funeral Homes
    2. I am not from Connecticut, but would anyone know what the state laws/policies are in reference to obtaining records from funeral homes where the arrangements were made for your ancestors? I tried calling and requesting information that would provide me with more data about the person and their ancestry history. I was not interested in names or addresses of living persons if this is not allowed. I proved I was related or at the very least that I knew the parentage of the individual, their place of birth and that seem to suffice, I thot. Then I was, I must admit, kindly and politely told that they could not divulge any information. At this point I excepted the fact that I would not be able to pursue the matter any further and thanked them. Of all the genealogy advice and suggestions I have read, they tell you that the funeral home is an excellent source of information. You not only retrieve info about the deceased but possibly the list of people who attended the funeral, the church where the minister was from, if any, and much more. Anyone with any knowledge of Connecticut's privacy policy for funeral homes and any (if any) procedures needed to follow to obtain these records, would be greatly appreciated. I have come so close to unraveling another branch of my family and now against another brick wall. Thyme

    3. It is my understanding that there are no laws in CT requiring funeral homes to keep or divulge any records beyond those required of any business. So, it all depends on the individual home, and how helpful they want to be. Enlisting local aid is helpful; They seem to recognize the desirability of indulging potential clients! I have heard horror stories of retiring funeral directors sending 50 years of records to the dump, or storing boxes and boxes in an old barn, or in a moldy cellar, etc. etc. -R.
