    1. Re: [CTFAIRFI] Parentage of Jonathan Benedict?
    2. Dolores --- According to Donald Lines Jacobus, HISTORY AND GENEALOGY OF THE FAMILIES OF OLD FAIRFIELD, Vol. 1, p. 62, Joseph Benedict, son of John and Phebe (Gregory) Benedict, "m. (2) 21 Mar. 1720/1, Mary (Groom), widow of Samuel Pitman of Stratford." And, on p. 244 of the same volume, Jacobus states that Mary Groom was the daughter of Edward and Miriam (Wheeler) Groom, and continues: "Mary, b. 19 Nov. 1690; m. (1) 23 Nov. 1716. Samuel Pitman; m. (2) [21 Mar. 1720/1]. Joseph Benedict, of Ridgefield. She was the "daughter Benedict" mentioned in will of her father-in-law Jonathan Pitman. In 1727 Joseph Benedict and Mary his wife of Ridgefield conveyed to brother Zechariah Blackman of Stratford, land that descended from Moses Wheeler, Sr." Jacobus, the foremost authority on Fairfield Co. genealogies, can be considered credible source documentation. 3. Hello again~~~ I want to thank each and every one who answered my plea, for your time and generosity. We have a winner here!!! who shall remain anonymous unless he/she wants to speak up - Ha! They cited this for me, and I was able to check it out in FTM GenLibrary. This is, indeed, a wonderful book, and there's more here than what's shown. According to Donald Lines Jacobus, HISTORY AND GENEALOGY OF THE FAMILIES OF OLD FAIRFIELD, Vol. 1, p. 62, Joseph Benedict, son of John and Phebe (Gregory) Benedict, "m. This Benjamin and Mary Groom are going to play havoc with what I had previously done, but I'd rather have it redone now than way down the road. Thanks again to one and all - Happy Hunting, Dolores ---------
