Is Jacobus (HISTORY AND GENEALOGY OF THE FAMILIES OF OLD FAIRFIELD) incorrect? There appears to be some confusion regarding the BURR line of Fairfield. According to Jacobus, there were two John Burrs, first cousins, of about the same age in Fairfield: (1) John3 (Nathaniel2, Jehu1) BURR (b. abt 1672; d. June 13, 1750, Stratfield, Connecticut); m1 bef 1698 Deborah BARLOW (b. abt 1675; d. Dec 4, 1726, Stratfield), dau of John and Abigail (LOCKWOOD) BARLOW; m2 Mar 29, 1727, Elizabeth HAWLEY (b. May 6, 1679; d. Aug 18, 1753), widow of Joseph WAKEMAN and dau of Ebenezer and Esther (WARD) HAWLEY. John and Deborah (Barlow) BURR had issue: John, Abigail, Deborah, Mary, William and Joseph. John3 BURR was the son of Nathaniel and Sarah (WARD) BURR. (2) John3 (John2, Jehu1) BURR (b. May 2, 1673; d. 1705); m Elizabeth HANFORD (b. Jan 9, 1666/67; d. bef 1708), dau of Rev. Thomas and Mary (MILES) HANFORD. John and Elizabeth (HANFORD) BURR had issue: Mary, Andrew, Ann, Elizabeth and Ebenezer. John3 BURR was the son of John and Sarah (FITCH) BURR.
