Ct Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ct/Fairfield/3234 Surname: KNAPP ------------------------- In documents I am working with there are references to a Y. (possibly a Z.) Knapp . This man was from Stamford and served as a soldier at Fort Groton in 1814. Probably the 37th Regiment, Infantry. E. Huntington lists a Reuben Knapp but no Y. or Z. Knapp. Does anyone have a record of a a Y. Knapp living in Stamford who would have been old enough to serve in the army in 1814? Also, a handwriting question---was it common in early nineteenth century handwriting for capital Y's to resemble capital Z's? Thanks, Jonathan Dryden
