The DeForest I am searching is Isaac DeForest ( sp?). I know he was born in Nova Scotia, but I cannot go any furhter without knowing his dad's name etc. It seems he came back and had kids in CT before he had kids in NY etc. Do you have any other information of DeForest around 1800 or before in Nova Scotia. I have only found loyalist Ephraim DeForest and he had a son Nathan, however I cannot make a linkage to them. Sandee

There is no County law enforcement in Connecticut so the investigation would have been handled by the Bridgeport Police. Copies of police reports can be obtained at their Records Division. 203-576-7615. If the case is still under investigation or if an arrest was made and it has not been adjudicated, you won't be able to get anything. If you don't have any luck with the PD, try the City or State Freedom of Information office. They can compel the release of information.

You probably won't be able to help me, as I was hoping that someone named Chalko (or similar) would surface. My grandmother immigrated from Russia (Belarus) in the early 1900s. She settled in western new york with a brother and sister (the maiden name of Shaloiko.) This name has come in a multidue of variations that soundex can't help with. (Salajako, Moshieko, Szalajko to name a couple). We think we have found her immigration record (Melania Shaloiko - on Ellis Island as Melanja Chalko, heading to Lowell Mass.) We don't know of any particular person in Bridgeport, but do know that the family had ties there, and made trips there to visit. (1910-1925) I gave up on finding more of her family a long time ago, but occassionally will leave a message to see if someone reacts to the name. She married Alexander Novik. Thanks for taking the time to read this! Melissa
Can someone please advise which church Isaac Lansing was serving as the Minister in 1853. I believe it was in Greenwich, but it may have been in Stamford. He is listed as the person who married my Hoyt ancestor in 1853, and I would like to know which church he was associated with. Thanks, George
