First, do you have her birthdate verified? (There are many Emily Carlson's in the SSDI) Do you know where she died? Maybe you could check local newspaper indexes at the library. Third, do you have a year or range of years or age she approximately died? This way you could narrow down the amount of pages you'll have to look through. If you know when her relatives died, you can also look through their obits for clues such as "survived by.."

You can send them a letter requesting genealogical research. Make sure the letter is as detailed as can be with names and dates of the family you are researching. The staff there are vey helpful. They have Bridgeport newspaper on microfilm going back as far as 1860 and city directories that go that far back as well as books on bridgeport history. Their Newspaper is not indexed, so please give dates if you want obits. Their search fee is $5.00 plus 10-15 cents per page copied. You do not have to sned the money right away they will send you a statement with whatever they are able to find. I hope this was helpful too you.

    2. Seeking to obtain copies of the following obits which appeared in the Danbury newspaper. The first one was for John Signor, who died Aug. 19, 1862 in Hormer, Cortland, NY but it was listed in the local newspaper. The second one, is that of his son, Walter, who died Oct. 19, 1865 in Danbury, where he worked in the hat business. Will re-reimburse for the copy of obtaining these newspaper obits and the mailing price. I would also appreciate learning where Walter and his wife, Betsey Maria (Balwin) Signor were buried in Danbury Betsey died on Sept.. 02, 1873.
