    3. Unfortunately, Connecticut can be a very difficult state to access for certificates. The last I heard, one had to go through the Connecticut Genealogical Society who would assign a member to get the certificate(s). The cost was $25.00 an hour plus expenses, including the certificate. 1. Re: [CTFAIRFI] Marriage Certificates
    2. Hi, I wrote to the City of Bridgeport, each town is different. I wrote on 9/26/00 asking for Birth records for my ggmother, and gggmother's. I sent the dates, names, and they responded on October 24, 2000. They returned my check, after not being able to find the records. They said the oldest birth record was made in the year 1847, death was 1885, and marriage is 1883. So, one was not listed, and they did a five years search for the one that I thought was in 1863, and came up with nothing. I have some Monroe records, and they start at 1848. You are better off requesting records from the town or city first. Records are $5.00, and you have to send a copy of your driver's license, copy of your birth record, full name and date, and the parents names if possible and a self addressed, stamped envelope. Try this site for information on Connecticut Vitals http://www.vitalrec.com/ct.html Good Luck! Terre

    3. I, too, am interested in the McKenzie name. One of my ancestors married a Dr. Edward H. McKenzie in Bovina, Delaware County, NY in the 11840s. I do not know when, where or to whom Edward was born, but believe he could have been from Greenwich, CT since the Fullers to whom he was married were from that town. If you can help me place my Edward McKenzie I would appreciate your help. Thank you, Forrest L. 2. Subj: Annie Valentine nee McCloskey Date: 11/23/00 11:01:50 PM Eastern Standard Time From: NJVSr To: CTFAIRFI-L@rootsweb.com I am seeking help with the following. As I cannot seem to find my Great Grandparents through my Grandfathers records (CHARLES EDWARD VALENTINE b. Brooklyn 1856) I will attempt to find something on the family of my Grandmother, ANNIE VALENTINE (McCLOSKEY) per her Death Certificate, was b. 1852,"England" (I understand "England" to the census taker might include, Ireland & Scotland) My grandparents, he a "Hatter", lived in Norwalk, Fairfield Co, CT, from about 1880 until their deaths in 1910 and 1918. Norwalk has no record of their marriage, possibly they were married in Brooklyn or elsewhere in CT. While living in Norwalk, Fairfield Co. CT. they had seven children. One, Catherine Valentine, stepped on a fallen electric wire and was killed on her 16th or 17th birthday" (about 1896/97) According to the 1880 census and "soundex card" she was 11 months old so I assume she was born in 1879/80 There are only three of my cousins left and they know nothing of the family history. I have been told that Annie Valentine - Nee McCloskey, had "a mother & two sisters, one of which was a "Whistler", two brothers, one had been a prize fighter called something like "Battling McCloskey" or "Knock `em down" McCloskey" and may have moved to Mt. Kisco, NY. The other brother "moved to Philadelphia and started a construction company" I have Obits and death certificates of my grandparents but their parents are recorded as "Unknown"
