I have had great success with the Danbury clerk's office also. I think the luck lies with the fact that our ancestors lived there and not in Bridgeport. They were very friendly, helpful and prompt. I know little nothing about the Olmsteads.
There was a fairly large facility right in the city of Bridgeport that was a TB "sanitorium". It was in the north end. It closed many years ago, probably in the 1940's or 50's. The buildings are still there and it's now called the "Catholic Center for the Diocese of Bridgeport". Hi list, I hope you can help me. My grandmother Georgianna Murdoch was b. 2/1887 in Danbury, CT. Her grandfather was b. Scotland; her father was b. Canada. 1871 census shows her grandfather living in Dundas, Matilda Twp. Canada and his religion - Presbyterian. My question is - What church would have been in the area in 1887 that the family might have attended? Were their any Presbyterian churches there then? If not, where would a scottish family have gone? I know her father was of Scotch descent, I am not sure of her mother other than she was b. in Canada (name Emma West, Werte?) I know later Georgianna attended St. James Episcopal church. Any help in directing me would be most appreciated. Thank you. Bonnie Kochanskyj
