Posted on: Fairfield Co. Ct Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ct/Fairfield/3183 Surname: Montagu, Kiley, Daly, McGrath ------------------------- I am looking for ancestors of Janice McGrath Chalfa born CT 1934 and died in 1980s. I am working on the family tree for mygrandaughter Palace Chalfa. Janice has a brother Don who I cannot locate but they were from Bridgeport. Their father Bill or Terrence McGrath married Margaret Kiley the daughter of Ed Kiley and Margaret MOntagu or Margaret Daly. It is said the McGraths came from Montgomery County NY and the Kileys lived in Bridgeport. Margaret had relatives Loretta and Regina I think. Any help is appreciated for my 3 year old grandaughter because unfortunately she will never know her other grandmother Janice who died at a tragically young age.

Am searching for: Bartholomew MARTIN b. ______ (est. 1650) d. 1711 Newport, RI (Will was probated then) m. Sarah LANGLEY (before 1692; evidence in Newport) children: William MARTIN Bethia MARTIN George MARTIN Jonathan MARTIN I don’t know: -his parents -where he was born -where he married -where he was buried I am now searching outside the usual perimeters. Newport was a major seaport. He could have traveled from afar. Annie, Early Fairchilds in America has: Zalmon Fairchild was b. before 1765 CT; m. Tamar Summers, d/o Nathan Summers; Children: Samuel, b. 179_. 2 males, b. 179_. Ruey, b. ca 1794 Fairfield co. CT.; m. Alpheus Goodrich ca 1810 Ostego co., NY; d. 23 Feb. 1858 Otsego co., NY Charles b. 21 Jan 1801 Otsego co., NY Sarah "Sally" b. 6 Sep. 1802 Otsego co., NY The CT. land records show Zalmon as of Stratford on 17 Aug. 1796 when Nathan Summers of Weston, CT. gave a gift to daughter Tamer (sic) of 16A and a dwelling. On 9 Feb. 1799 Zalmon and wife of Trumbull, CT. sold 48A and buildings. Zalmon's first New York deed was in 1800 when he was of the town of Pittsfield, Otsego county, NY. On 23 May 1805 he purchased land in Columbus, Otsego county, on the Unadilla River. He is on the 1810 NY census in town of Pittsfield, Otsego county. 1818 is his last grantor date in Otsego county and he is not on the 1820 NY census. The will of Nathan Summers in Otsego county names the four living children of daughter Tamar/Tamer. This is in a section of unidentified and unplaced Fairchilds. I hope that this helps and gives you some leads to pursue. Annie Strawn wrote: > > Are there any Fairchild's in your book? I am looking for Zalmon Fairchild > and his daughter Ruey 's birthdates? I have Odells back to 1490, but no Hannah or Mary Walker. William must be a brother that I don't have (or a cousin on a collateral line).
How far back do the O'Dell's go? I have Hannah, daughter of John O'Dell and Mary Walker, grand daughter of William.
Jeanne, Thanks so much for the Odell sources. That's a big help. The book is coming along slowly but surely. We have pushed back the publication date a bit because new data keeps emerging and we just can't resist! ;-) Carol Hubbell Boggs Membership Chairperson Hubbell Family Historical Society HubbellGen@aol.com <http://www.hubbell.org>

Mary married (2) Joseph Middlebrook. (Jacobus Additions & Corrections to Families of Old Fairfield p. 24-5). Leslie Carr also lists these parents for Mary; she has Odells back to 1436, but I don't have her source. She's on this listserve; email: thistle@ctel.net. Keep me posted on the book's progress! Hi Jeanne, I noticed that in the recent Turney messages you wrote: <<Mary Odell's parents are John ODELL,B. 1577 and Joan BINGLEY. Joan's father is Thomas BINGLEY, b. 1556.
