Re Mary Platt, daughter of of John and Hannah (Clarke) Platt. - The will of John Platt of Norwalk dated 6 Dec 1705 mentions daughter "Mary Bennedick." (I have transcribed his will from microfilm.) - In "Richard Platt of Ware, Co. Hertford, England, and Milford, Connecticut" by John Insley Coddington, TAG:166. Coddington says "Mary is shown by her father's will to have married a Benedict." He believed it was Benjamin3 Benedict of Stamford, whose wife Mary died there 30 Nov. 1771. (I don't have Benjamin3's ancestry). Mary Platt was married to a Benedict well before the 21 March 1719/20 date you give for Joseph's second marriage. The Charles Platt genealogy says Mary died 30 Nov 1771, and Coddington confirms she died in 1771 at Stamford, so she was very much alive in 1719/20, ruling out Mary Groom as a third wife after her death. It looks likely that it was Mary Groom who was Joseph's second wife, if the 1719/20 date is correct, and that Mary Platt married Benjamin Benedict before 6 Dec 1705. Dolores, we're probably cousins several times over. Of the lines you mention, I have: - BENEDICT Elizabeth4 (James3, Thomas2, William1) m. Daniel3 TAYLOR Fairfield Co. While I was off in hawaii for 2 weeks (gloat, gloat :-)) I used a friend's computer to access e-mail and since I was unfamiliar with it, I accidentally erased lots of e-mail without reading it. If anyone on this list sent me any info since Jan 21, I would appreciate getting another copy. And sorry if you didn't get any thank-yous! Charnee Smit charnees@aol.com

I sent this letter 2 days ago to all the lists I belong to. I haven't seen it posted yet on my digest version and wonder if I did something wrong. Here it is again. My apologies to you if it's already been through the list. Hello, Because so many of us can trace our roots back to Connecticut, I am forwarding this on to all the lists I belong to. The Simsbury Genealogical & Historical Research Library has created some beautiful notecards from an artist's rendition of the gates of the Old Cemetery in Simsbury. They are selling them as a fund raiser to help finance the cemetery book they are putting together, and I thought many would be interested in them. The picture and order form can be found here: http://www.shoestringcreations.com/SimsburyLibrary/notecard.htm Please forward this on to as many people as you think might be interested. Thank you, Claudia Garner Wakeman, OH

Hello List Members~~~ I'm new to the list and struggling with the following surnames and collaterals: BENEDICT, CASTLE, PLATT, SEELEY, GREGORY, CLARKE, ADAMS, and SANFORD for starters :-) I have a JOSEPH BENEDICT b. c1679-1716 Norwalk, Fairfield, Ct.(s/o JOHN and PHOEBE GREGORY) who was firstly m. to an "Anne" c1709 and had 3 or 4 ch. I believe his second m. was to MARY PLATT b.1674 NY d. 1771, Norwalk (d/o JOHN and HANNAH CLARKE) but I cannot find any trustworthy verification for this. Some others say Joseph's second m. was to a MARY GROOM on 21 Mar 1719/20. This is the very same mge. date given for the mge. to MARY PLATT, d/o JOHN PLATT. Does anyone have some good, reliable documentation for which of these women married JOSEPH BENEDICT? I have their son, JONATHAN 1722-1800 m. to LUCY CASTLE d/o SAMUEL CASTLE and MARTHA SEELEY. Any help with this problem will be very much appreciated! Dolores J. Davis djdavis@sierratel.com

I'd like to clean up my files a little - maybe someone on list has that one little bit of info . . . Sarah HULL dau of Cornelius HULL and Rebecca JONES was married to Robert SILLIMAN b 1666, Fairfield, son of Daniel SILLIMAN and Peaceable. she was also married to Daniel SILLIMAN and Daniel KNAPP my records show Daniel SILLIMAN and Peaceable had 3 sons, Robert, Daniel and Thomas. I suspect this Daniel is the same as the one married to Sarah HULL, but I have nothing concrete to support that. Anyone have supporting documentation? Thanks. Leslie
