Would anyone have, or be able to direct me towards, the obituaries for Edward and Mina Klinck of Greenwich, CT? Edward died June 16, 1958, Mina died December 11, 1957. Trying to find if they had any children, etc. Thanks, Georgiana
Lee, I saw that too. When it appeared on my first maillist, I thought it might be just what it purported to be, someone sharing a find of general interest. Then it appeared on all my lists, and I smelled a rat. I don't know how list owners can stop that technique, other than reviewing every message before they are posted. We are on the honor system, and most of us are honorable. A few aren't. Advertisements get you one way or another. I delete a minimum of 8 junk e-mails per day and have at least that many telemarketer calls to greet me on my answering machine when I get home everyday.

I would like to check with them to see if there is listed the following: 1910: Anna Pavlovsky/Pavlovski/Pawlowsky/Pawlowski, age 20 1920: John Prokop household, with wife, Anna, age 30. Ct Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ct/Fairfield/13437 Surname: TOWNER, VAUGHAN, BENEDICT, PENNOCK ------------------------- Rebecca Towner married Joseph(us) Vaughan on 5 June 1754 in New Fairfield, Fairfield Co., CT. I have not been able to find information about Rebecca Towner's ancestors. I have found that they had 8 children born in New Fairfield. A daughter, Rebecca Vaughan, was born in the year 1760, according to an 1868 letter found among one of her descendants things. The letter was written by a daughter of Rebecca Towner Vaughan's daughter, Rebecca Vaughan who married Alexander Pennock. According to this letter, the granddaughter, Elizabeth R. Pennock Bunker, tells her granddaughter, Helen Perrine Roberts: My Father and Mother were from Connecticut, my mothers name was "Rebacah" Vaughan, she was born in the year 1760. Her mothers name was Rebacah Towner, my fathers name was Alexander Pennock. He was born in 1759, the first born, he had three brothers.. Grandpa died, grandma married "old Squire Benedict", she had two more Children, James, and Merilla she married a man by the name of Burton. I remember my great grandpa and grandma. The had a great deal of property, they were willing to help the needy so they were called good folks. I was born in Stratford, Orange Co, vermont, Elizabeth Pennock, the youngest. She describes her "connections" and some of the Pennock genealogy. She also talks about her own children. At the time she wrote the letter, from Greensburg Indiana, she was living with her son, Dr. Ledyard Cuyler Bunker.

She says that:..."my father and Mother were from Connecticut (possibly Fairfield Co.?), my mother's name was "Rebacah" Vaughan, she was born in the year 1760. Her mothers name was "Rebacah" Towner, my fathers name was Alexander Pennock. He was born in 1759, the first born, he had three brothers, Ira, Joseph and WM; he had two sisters, Olive (I forget the given name) Marie Bliss, Lucine (my aunt) married Heber Gilbert, he a doctor and a good man, he moved to Ohio, he died, one of his sons finished his studys with my brother. Grandpa died, grandma married "old Squire Benedict" she had two more Children, James and Merilla, she married a man by the name of Burton. I remember my great grandpa and grandma, they had a good deal of property, they were willing to help the needy so they were called good folks. I was born in Stratford, Orange co., vermont, Elizabeth Pennock, the youngest - I am the only one living of my Pa's family. She goes on to describe her family and more "connections." Elizabeth R. Pennock married James Carrolton Bunker in March 1811, in Aurelius, Cayuga County, NY. where her parents, Alexander and Rebecca Vaughan Pennock moved to when she was 9 years old. I recently talked with the owner of the publishing company, The Reprint Company, Publishers; and he indicated a willingness to do a second reprinting if there is sufficient interest (orders). He indicated that he needed about 25 orders to justify another printing, and that the price would be in the range of $35 to $45. Posted on: Fairfield Co. Ct Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ct/Fairfield/13427 Surname: Coggeshall, Throckmorton ------------------------- I must correct your earlier note. Patience Coggeshall (I have no middle name listed for her, although her mother was Patience Throckmorton before she married Major John Coggeshall) was born in Newport, Rhode Island (not Connecticut) 8-13-1669. I'm not certain if there was ever a connection of them with Fairfield County, Connecticut. I'm a descendant of her oldest brother, Freegift Coggeshall, b Newport, RI, 3-1-1658. If we are of the same generation, that would make us 8th cousins. If you need information on the ancestors for both Major John and Patience Throckmorton, that information is contained in detail in a book written by my father, Robert W. Coggeshall: "Ancestors and Kin" (1988). This book is still available from the publisher (or Amazon.com) for $35 plus shipping. However, I'm selling it for $30 postage paid in the USA. If you are interested in this book, e-mail me for details(please note your interest in Coggeshall and Throckmorton) at: pcoggeshall@earthlink.net I should also note that my father has obtained membership in "The Royal Bastards" (Society) through Patience Throckmorton for three separate lines back to bastard children of the Kings of England. That information is also contained in this book.
I am sending this to the list and would also like to find out if any one might have high school year books like 1938 Stamford High School and they could look for my mom and her brothers and sisters. Also does anyone know of Mrs.Rutz "Rusty " she is probably decased but her family might still have tapes of my mother,Mrs Rutz always taped my mom singing God bless you Flora Newby 3243 Old Chapel Spring Texas 77373 I came from a poor family. However, if you resided in the country, you could raise your own food from a garden. President Hoover tried to put a plan together that would have solved the proglems from the Great Depression but it was too little, and too late. The government applied the money to the War Debt and it caused our country to go bankrupt. We went to bed and got up the next morning hungry, but we knew why. Stamford Connecticutt was a small town, and the neighbourhoods held Polish, Irish, and italians. Everyone was hungry. The Baste system was quite evident and the north side of town was made up of the very wealthy. God gave me a rare talent - the gift of Voice. Going to High School and coming home, Rhoda, my sister, and rodney, my brother, all sang on the radio. My teacher in high school, Mrs Rutz ("Rusty") fell in love with my voice. I was a coloratura soprano. Every night while me and rhoda did the dishes, she washed and I stood on a chair and dried. We would sing, the neighbours would come over and listen or they stood in the hallway, just outside our door. In 1941 I was awarded a Scholarship to Carnegie Hall in New York City. that was in October 1941, and I was also working after school in an office, sorting out the mail and delivering it around the building. My life was sort of habit and things started looking up and soon I would be in New York and someday I would perform on the great stages and make my way in the world. Remembering December 7th 1941, President Roosevelt came across the radiio and the news crushed me. He said "A day that will live in infamy," The Japanese had taken a terrible toll on our Navy and the boys butchered that day, most while still sleeping. I knew immediately what would happen. I saw my brother, Rodney, walk to my bedroom door and tapping it lightly. Sitting down in the easy chair, we listened to the news. "Well, Jeanne, you know what this means. We are at war with Japan and it means that I will be enlisting today. My country needs me". Jeanne sunk deep down into the bed numb from the news and feeling desperate she made up her mind. "Rodney, I am going to enlist also". The very next day, President Roosevelt declared war on Japan, Germany and Italty. I remembered that Congress had stripped the defense for so long that the men were training with broomsticks for guns and the uniforms, well there were not enough. However, it didn't take America long for the factories and the industry to get going in full swing. For the first time women came into a predominately male world and tasted what the men had experienced but the roles were reversed. Even the schoolchildren became involved. It was a sight. But out on the streets men had taken up arms and we thought about air raids and blackouts. I had two brothers Austin (sonny), and Rodney. And my father, already a seasoned veteran from WW1 and now me. My brother was in a Signal Intelligence Unit and Sonny was assigned as a Unitility Repairman with ther 391st Engineers and dad Hq Co124 Armed Eng Bn CE USA Engineers. When Omaha Beach was hit, I felt myself praying "Please, not Rodney". Me, I was stationed in Germany 7700 Headquarters Battalion and I was there for D-Day. Germany, Hitler and the Axis Armies, I walked through the country after the Liberation. the horrors I will carry with me to my grave. The faces of those people. The quote "fortunate Jewish - a liberated race". I cry as i think about their bravery and the despair. their eyes are glazed. the American Soldier. War hardened veterans, some are in complete dismay, totally unprepared for some of the things they will become witnesses to. You could not feed them. Some are like skeletons. Some have no one left. Some just want to die, after it is over. It was shortly after this I received an injury - a blow to the head,. I never saw it coming and I find myself wondering what happened. They just found me unconscious. And I would be on my way home on a hospital ship. My life was changed. it would never be the same. War, a horrible three lettered word. Unless you have lived it and seen it you cannot understand it. WW2, I am proud to have been a part of it, glad I was able to give to my country, America.
