Ct Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ct/Fairfield/13459 Surname: JENNINGS, RIDER ------------------------- Looking for information on family from the Ridgfield/Redding areas of Fairfield Co. My ggggrandparents were James Rider and Hannah Jennings Gregory Rider Lockwood. Hannah had at least 4 children by a first marriage to Charles Gregory. The only offspring of her marriage to James Rider was my gggrandfather Edgar Augustus Rider. Her third marriage was to a Hezekiah Lockwood and there were no children. I am particularly interested in who the parents of James and Hannah may have been. I believe that her parents could have been an Aaron and Polly Jennings that were found on the 1850 census living fairly close to Hannah and James. There was an Aaron in Ridgefield in 1820, 30, and 40 and in 1820 a female in the correct age range to be Hannah in his home. I would appreciate any information that any one might have. Thank you.

Posted on: Fairfield Co. Ct Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ct/Fairfield/13456 Surname: Jandrell ------------------------- Hi, There are quite a few of us (Jandrell's) in South Africa Regards Stanton
I don't think I am related to the Crissey family, but I am a descendant of Crissey Coggeshall 1775-1837 of Stamford, CT. Crissey has a long history in Stamford, CT and there are lots of Crisseys in the Stamford records. Vital Racords of Stamford births, marriages and deaths for 1641-1906 are on LDS-FHC microfilms 899934, 1434311, 1434312, 1434313. Registration of Births, Marriages and Deaths of Stamford Families by Elijah B. Huntington is also on LDS-FHC microfilm 5592 and online at: http://www/rootsweb.com/~ctfairfi/stamford/ The Stamford Historical Society could have info on your Crissey's. Don't know if the following Mary Crissey Picket is related to your CRISSEY's: April 28, 1980 Letter from Mary Crissey Pickett, Long Ridge resident and childhood friend of Grace Bliss, to Adam Levine Dear Mr. Levine ...[Grace Lester-Bliss] has known me about 70 years, since she was presnt as domestic help for my mother at the time of my birth. Her husband delivered ice at the house on Broad Street (Stamford) at that time and my mother used to kid [Grace] about him--he was not her husband at that time-- with a song then popular which had a line, "The ice man is a nice man." I don't know just what he did after that, but they did own a small house on (I think) Scofieldtown Road. I believe that her father came to this country from England [she may be thinking of Grace's husband's grandfather; or maybe Gilbert Havens Lester and his wife Margaret Ann Dutcher who came to Stamford in 1882 with Rev. Wm. Thompson from Long Island, not from England...but anyway, here is the Thompson connection I mentioned above--A.L.] along with the father-in-law of an aunt of mine, a Rev. Thompson (Methodist minister) and acted as gardener, driver (horse drawn vehicles, etc.). Although of humble status, the family was always highly respected in the small community of Long Ridge, for they were quiet, well bred, very decent people, possessed of inate refinement. Grace was always a great reader--not so much novels, trash she eschewed, but she was always interested in the occult and metaphysical. As a matter of fact, her mmind was far more preoccupied with such matters than with household chores...."
