    2. Pat, I got a response from George in California. His Mom was naturalized through the Stamford CT superior court and he went to the Archives in Waltham, MA and got great info as long as it took place after 1906. Prior to that it would probably be at the court house. Hope this helps. Joeanna

    3. > Jonathan (2) SQUIRE son of George and Ann > SQUIRE, born say 1660, I have Jonathan born 1663 at Fairfield, Fairfield, Connecticut - dying 1723 at Westport, Fairfield, Connecticut. I have his mother as Ann [WHEELER] SQUIRE. Does any one know if George SQUIRE's father was Samuel -1) SQUIRE - and is George and Agnes SQUIRE the wife of Henry 1) ADAMS of Braintree any relation? According to Torrey's New England Marriages prior 1700 pg 699 this is what Torrey has to say about Jonathan SQUIRE. "SQUIRE, Jonathan & Mary (SEELEY); b 1685; Woodbury, CT/Fairfield, CT." I don't have any proof that Jonathan's wife was Mary the d/o Nathaniel SEELEY- just the above records- Wilma Fleming Haynes gencon@harborside.com of Fairfield, Woodbury, and Westport, is said by D. L. Jacobus to have "probably" married Mary, daughter of Nathaniel SEELEY and Mary TURNEY. Has anyone found proof of this marriage? ============================== Visit Ancestry.com for a FREE 14-Day Trial and enjoy access to the #1 Source for Family History Online. 1. [CTFAIRFI] Re: William BLANCHARD
    2. I am looking for the parents of an Abigail BLANCHARD (1808-1878) who married a Francis T. WHITNEY on 18 Feb 1827 in Warren County, OH. We know she had siblings named Eliphalet, Christina and Betsy BLANCHARD. I think the WHITE family of Chautauqua County, NY may be related to this bunch. There is some evidence that her father may be named David BLANCHARD but I have no firm proof of this. I am looking for a Catharine born 1799 in NY who married Nathan GROSVENOR ca,. 1825 in or around Stockton, Chautauqua, NY. From infromation it is evident the BLANCHARD, WHITE and CRISSEY families of both VT and later NY were collateral and I know this Catharine M. <unknown> came from one of these close collateral families. All we know about her is that she was born in NY in 1799, some say 9 Mar 1799, she married Nathan before 1829 and she died in Paulding County, OH in 1883. If you know the GROSVENOR family then you will know the HOPKINS, WEBSTER, THOMPSON, CRISSEY, BLISS families are all collateral to it both in VT and later in NY. Nathan and Catharine (Catherine, Catrina, Kate) named their children John Allen, Hiram, Cyrus, Lucy (Lucinda), Welllington and Nina -- all born between c1828 and 1839. In 1840 they were living in Springcreek TWP, Shelby County, OH and in 1830 they were living in Stockton, Chautuaqua County, NY. Nathan's parents were Richard GROSVENOR and Rebecca GLOYD of Fairfax, Franklin, VT and later Stockton, Chautauqua, NY. One of their sons, Hiram, married Arimenta WHITHEY in 1852 in Shelby County, OH. She was the daughter of Francis T. WHITNEY and Abigail BLANCHARD. If you should have any information on any of these families, thanks, in advance....

    1. [CTFAIRFI] Re: CTFAIRFI-census
    2. Census' are no where's near as accurate as most people think...since 1970 when i was living on my own, i have only been counted once...and all during that time i was living in a house (which i owned). Why? Because i never received a form. << So it would seem that he should be in the 1860 census of CT but perhaps you have all ready checked that? >>

    1. [CTFAIRFI] Re: Pinckney early settlers 1600's
    2. Pat, I am also descendant of the Pinckney/Hill families of what is now Putnam Co., NY. Your Stephen (1791-1873) and my Dorothy (1797-1878) were siblings. Both married members of the Hill family. "Genealogy of the Hill, Dean, Pinckney, Austin...Families," by Franklin Couch, 1907, is the book you seek. There are errors as to the origins of Philip Pinckney (1616-1689) in the book but I can provide additional information if you contact me at: <eks@barrow9.fsnet.co.uk>.

    1. [CTFAIRFI] DANBURY INCARSARATION FACULITIES ABT. 1854
    2. Robert & Allene Hintz
    3. Hi, If anyone that is familiar with Danbury history in 1850's could you please contact me, I would greatly appreciate it. My Great Great Great Grandfather for some reason in 1854 was incarcerated in some type of facility in Danbury. He mentions in a letter to his son about having been committed to this place. He and his wife were citizens in Danbury as early as 1800, then in late 1840's they move to Chicago area, as almost all their children have migrated to that area. In late 1852 has purchased a third piece of land in the Chicago area. In November of 1853 he is incarcerated in some facility in Danbury. As far as I know none of his children are back in Danbury. We don't know where he's at or why he is back in Danbury. In the 1860 Wisconsin Census he is living with one of his children. We went through the Cook and Lake Counties in Illinois court records to see if there was a reason he might have been taken back or gone back to Danbury. Does anyone know where I can start looking in Danbury for as to why he was committed to what ever he is being held in? The only possible clue we might have is my grandfather once told his daughter, my aunt, that the reason he didn't drink, was his grandfather was an alcoholic. Well we know his grandfather wasn't, but maybe his great grandfather was. Thanks, Allene Trowbridge Hintz

They settled for a short time in Enfield, CT. Parents were John Purcell and Mary (Hannon) Purcell. Mary (Hannon) Purcell died in Enfield, CT. in 1881. John (Father) left his children in CT. and he came to MN. There were 10 children in the family. Catherine, Mary Ann, Margaret, James, James Alphonse, John, Rose, Sarah, Christopher and William. Would you have any information on this family?

    1. [CTFAIRFI] Re: Griswold Family
    2. Your mother was the daughter of Lyman Laverne and Flora Seeley (Harding) Griswold. I do not have this family completely traced but Mildred had a brother, Lawrence who has a descendant working on the line. Perhaps I can put you in touch.

    1. [CTFAIRFI] Re: GRISWOLD, BATTERSON
    2. Oops should have read yours before posting on Lewis W. Griswold. children of Polly (Griswold) and Peter Van Der Bogart were Frederick Albert m. Mrs. Julia MERRIT, and Sarah Eunice m. Albert M. SCOTT. George Willard SMITH was the son of Chester Foote Smith and Diana Carter GRISWOLD of Litchfield, CT. I had thought that Harvey might have a connection to Diana's family, but I have not found it.

    1. [CTFAIRFI] Re: Mary Rigby - Lewis Griswold Marriage
    2. I have never been able to place this Lewis W. Griswold within the proper family but the Toledo OH Death Index shows that he d. 21 Nov 1895; 68y. Other records on him that we have state he went to Toledo about 1879. And a daughter, Eva Marie Griswold b. 1854 in CT. So it would seem that he should be in the 1860 census of CT but perhaps you have all ready checked that? If you have other information on Lewis, that might help place him with his parents that would be much appreciated.
