I would love to exchange information with you. Since I posted my message, I too found that as you say Lewis appears to be the son of Harvey and Laura (Batterson) Griswold of which I still cannot place. I will run a few new searches tonight. I have six children born to them. . . of those I have further information on Polly and Mary Lucinda. Let me know if you have that or would like that information. As for Lewis, I show him with the birth/marriage information that you have and a death date of 21 Nov 1895 Toledo, OH (from the Lucas County, Toledo, OH death records, p.58). I have no further information on Mary. I would like further information on their other children. I have only the one child: Eva Marie b. 15 Oct 1854, CT m. Marcena Odell SEBRING. Last residence for her - Kalamozoo, MI. Feel free to e-mail me off the board.
George Edwin/Edward DeGraw died Jan 11th, 1917 and was buried in Elmwood cemetery in Bethel. How can I find records and/or address for Elmwood cemetery? Where can I obtain an obituary?
I am looking for any leads on an (one of many) O'Brien family in Bridgeport: Matthew married to Isabelle nee Powers, one child name is James born abt 1920. James married to Margaret Kish abt 1955. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks... Robbyn Wolf, Seattle
I'm looking for information on the children of William and Lena Wenzel of Greenwich CT. They lived on Cognewaugh Road where my grandfather, William Julius Wenzel, was born in 1908. They had a son named Arthur and a daughter named Merriam. William had a brother named Fritz who lived in Jersey City and worked roofing school houses there. I believe his wife's name was Emma and their children were Willie, Freddie and Emma (Willie and Freddie worked for the Mutual Life Ins Co of New York). Any information would be helpful. I just wanted the list to know what fabulous people they have at the Fairfield Historical Society! A special thanks to Rod & Bill who were of great help while we visited from out of state! I was overwhelmed with their efficiency, their help and guidance and their warmth. It was one of the most pleasant trips for genealogy that I have made in years and extremely productive! They have so very much to offer and I recommend contacting them for any reseach help you may need in Fairfield Cnty! http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ct/county/fairfield/index.html http://www.rootsweb.com/~ctfairfi/ Dianne Thomas
Searching for information on William T. Brennan married to Mabel Wilcox Brennan. They had 4 children: Ernest, James, Raymond & Jeannette. They lived in Danbury, Fairfield Co., CT and may have lived on Starr St. in Danbury.
I do have info on the parents of Lewis W. Griswold. THE CONNECTICUT NUTMEGGER, Vol. 7, #3, p. 496: "The Batterson Family" Laura Batterson m. Harvey Griswold; a listing of their six children included Lewis W. Griswold. 2nd Source: Jason Allen Coffman, 4385 E. Campo Bello Dr., Phoenix, AZ 85032: From Griswold family Bible in possession of Mrs. Mary Short: Lewis W. Griswold, son of Harvey Griswold and Laura Batterson, both of Litchfield Co., CT, b. 12 Oct. 1826. He married Mary Rigby 5 May 1851. The marriage is further verified by New Hartford (CT) Marriages. I have three children for them, possibly there was one more. It has been a difficult piecing together of bits here and there. I do not know how interested you are in this great, great uncle of mine, but I have compiled a chronology for him. There is a blank from when his daughter Eva Marie was born to when he appeared in Toledo City Directory in 1867. Let me hear from you. I have learned quite a bit more since I put in my query.
I am looking for any Blinn's in Fairfield Co. looking mostly for Samuel born 1751, bapt. 1753 and possible father John. Samuel possibly married a Sarah Culver. Any help would be appreciated. rita
Hi Adele I don't have anything on the Jane, sorry, but would like the emails of the people you mention in CT as I am searching this line pretty heavy and have run into several brick walls. Can you send them to me privately? Thanks. NJNUNEZ@aol.com
David, I too am looking for information on John Fuller, born 1774 and Samuel Fuller, born 1778. John is my ggggrandfather. John married Anna Adams of Fairfield, daughter of Charles Adams and moved to Roxbury, Delaware County, NY. Don't know is Anna also went but my records show he had 3 children with Anna. Lucretia, Anna and Abel. He married Lucene Crosby as his second wife and had at least 7 children with her, Cyrus, Alvah, Susan, Lewis, Asa, Sarah Marietta, and Betsy Maria. John died on Dec 16, 1856 and Lucene died on Jan 30, 1857 and they are both buried in the Old School Baptist Church Cemetery in Roxbury, NY. Anna is not buried there so I am assuming that maybe she was already deceased when John migrated to Roxbury. I am trying to find information on Johns parents and whatever I can find on Anna Adams. Hope you are still checking this board.
My Greatgrandfather was David Squires and he was married to Charlotte Collins. My Grandfather was Edward Webb and he was married to Gertrude Squires. All four of these people lived in Fairfield County, Conn. I am still looking for more information, if you have any, perhaps we can share some information. Thanks Linda Webb Hammond
I am looking for a WEBB / SQUIRES connection in Connecticut. Mary WEBB, 1790-1866, daughter of Santhare, married Charles SQUIRES 1787-1865. Both renoved to Ballibay, Herrick Township, PA, where they are buried. One of their children was Pembroke SQUIRES, my gggrandfather. Anything?
Many many thanks to all of you who responded to my message! You have given me much food for thought! In answer to some of your questions: The Canaan Parish Church was Congregational. The minister, John Eels, was "on site", and not a circuit minister. John Fancher made 32 land transactions in Stamford and Norwalk, 1 in Greenwich, during this period which would seem to indicate that he was in the area at the time. His homestead was in what would become Poundridge NY, which was within the Canaan Parish. His children were all baptized in the church during this period. John and Eunice Fancher owned the covenant on 22 Jan. 1737, their first child, John, was b.15 July 1737. I had wondered if owning the covenant might have been a prelude to having their son baptized, but John's supposed brother Richard had children baptized in this church, with no record of him ever owning the covenant or being admitted as a church member. I have checked the copies of the Canaan Parish records for a few other families and there appears to be no rhyme or reason for the owing the covenant dates compared to the membership dates. Some were a prelude to a marriage, baptism, or membership. Others owned the covenant at a time which seems to have no relationship to another event. Ditto on church memberships. But I didn't find any other ten year gap. And I don't have all the records :) Family tradition says John Fancher was a seafaring man (although no proof of same has ever been found). Perhaps he waited until 1748 because his seafaring days ended then? Maybe John owned the covenant to "pay" for his pew to make his wife happy! And then dragged his feet about becoming a member of the church for another ten years :) Alison ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alison Wallner" <aliwallner@home.com> To: <CTFAIRFI-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, July 14, 2001 11:58 AM Subject: [CTFAIRFI] "Owned the Covenant" in Canaan Parish? > Does anyone know what the term "owned the covenant" in the Canaan Parish church records meant? > > John FANCHER and wife Eunice BOUTON owned the covenant on Jan 22 1737/8. Thanks for your message. I don't know why I have not received it, but saw the fact that you did respond on the message board. I'm terribly sorry for the delay. I have a fair amount of genealogy for the Rundalls. As noted, my mother died while I was quite small, so most of the data has been accumulated the hard way. I do believe in sharing and will be happy to provide whatever I have, just give me your connection please so that I will know where to start (or stop). I've not received any other response or information for this family since having posted the query, so what I have for these families will pertain to the newer generations, but I plan to correct that when I get enough information for the older lines to 'work' them properly. I know that there were 2 Tompkins families which went to Jones County, Iowa in the early 1850's, mine and another. I'm as sure as I can be (without knowing for sure) that they were connected, but haven't proven it. I am 58 years old and live in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. My mother, Rachael, was born 1910 on the Rundall homestead (her parents really did obtain it by homestead rights) in North Dakota, moved back to Jones County & then to Linn County, IA where she grew up. She came to Illinois, where I was born, in the early 1930's and eventually married my father, after they had each been previously married. I'll be happy to share information with you, I just need to know where you fit in, so that I can send the appropriate information. I don't know to send email attachments, so will have to send it by FAX or by snail mail, I don't mind at all. It's your choice. Thanks a Lot.
You are just too cool! I would say 'Hello, Cousin' but that is a bit familiar by my standards, so I won't say that, but thanks heaps & bunches. I would greatly appreciate receiving whatever information you are willing to provide. It makes no difference to me whether it is transmitted by email or by snail mail. My snail mail address, just in case, is: Austin Rundall Clayton 49C Maryland Avenue Rehoboth Beach, Delaware 19971 p.s. I'll review what I have and see what I can provide to you. Having had a problem with the older generations, it goes without saying that whatever I have will pertain to the newer generations. I do believe in sharing and will be glad to provide what I can. Thanks again, you're a peach!
My records show that Bartholomew Tompkins married a Rachel_____. he was born 1768, died 1853. he was the son of Nathaniel, Bartholomew's father Nathaniel married twice and had a total of 12 children. By the way, we're cousins as I descend from Nathaniels Uncle John. if further information is wanted on this line, I will give you what I have.
Seeking info on Martin Schueler and his family. this is all the info I have as this is my first gene query! This info is from SSN death index. I believe he was a liquor store owner in CT; married an Annie who post-deceased him (circa 1990) -- she might have been a HAYES. Son was Richard; possibly another brother. Can anyone help?? jessica in ct
