It's been awhile since I have posted on here, but have found out some more information on my grandparents Gordon Everett Nichols was born 2/14/13 Jessie Ede Nichols was born 6/6/15 Married approximately 1934/35? In Stamford? They lived in an Irish shanty town in Stamford after just getting married..was called "Dublin" They had the following children: Gordon Everett Jr (deceased 1994) Donald Allen (deceased 1994) Ethel (Nichols) Clark (lives in NY) Everett Gordon Nichols (my father, lives in NH) Robert Nichols (lives in NY) Agnes (Mary/Marie) (Nichols) Harris (lives in W. VA) I do know that Jessie's mother was Mary (Borsey) Ede, don't know father's name. Any information anyone can give me would be wonderful, especially on Gordon's side of the family. Also does anyone know of places I can access on the net to find out more about "Dublin" in Stamford, CT? Was in the late 1920's early 30's. NEW EMAIL: jade51966@aol.com, or jade349@hotmail.com

Update: Deacon Jeffrey B. Mead (jmead@aloha.net) wrote yesterday, regarding the upcoming demolition of the Benjamin MEAD II estate in Greenwich. He reported that the Greenwich Times printed a feature on the Mead Family Burial Grounds Association yesterday (Tuesday, August 7, 2000), along with the reported upcoming demolition of the five buildings at the estate. http://www.greenwichtime.com/ "Descendant goes high-tech to tell family's history By Martin B. Cassidy Staff Writer Historian Spencer Mead published the original history of Greenwich in 1857. Hester Bush Mead, an African American and painter, was a daughter of Candice Bush, a slave owned by David Bush. She acquired the Mead name after marrying a freed slave who once was owned by the Mead family. Oliver Deliverance Mead, a prosperous farmer, sold his 120 acres of land at Field Point as homesites in the area now known as Belle Haven. He lived to the age of 96 and was president of the Greenwich National Bank. >From the early days of Greenwich, the Mead clan - which appeared in town before 1700 - has had a powerful formative influence on the town of Greenwich, a legacy which is still evidenced by the scattered 18th and 19th century houses they built and several graveyards around town. Now, a family member has created a Web site at www.meadburyinggrounds.org in hopes of garnering the attention of the family's descendants. " <snip> "Several Mead homes are still in existence in town including the home of Oliver D. Mead on Pear Lane, Susan Richardson, an archivist for The Historical Society of the Town of Greenwich said. A handful of Mead descendants also remain in the area, and the historical society has amassed a large collection of documents, artifacts and clothing from the Mead family, Richardson said, but she had not seen the Web site. "The Meads were great savers and they loved to write history," she said. "They intermarried quite a lot so their genealogy is very challenging." The Mead family was unusually large and made up of local farmers, merchants, business people and lawyers, Richardson said. Jeffrey Mead expressed disappointment about the impending demolition of the Benjamin Mead Homestead on Cliffdale Road. The land was bought by Benjamin Mead in 1707 and contains one of the burial plots that Mead restored. The new owner of the house has permits to level six Colonial-era buildings to make way for a new residence. "There are a lot of Mead houses left in Greenwich but it's sad to see that one go," he said. Hi, I have that Nathaniel, son of Nathaniel and Mary, born 1650/51 married a Hannah ODELL, not BENNETT. Was Hannah married to a Bennett before her marriage to Nathaniel or is my information wrong? Appreciate any feedback on this. Thanks, Allene
Jeremiah Curtis of North Stamford, Fairfield, CT was the executor of the 1816 will of my ancestor, Isaac Holly of North Stamford (1767-1816) married to Deborah Waters. Looking for information that might provide clues as to their relationship. Might he have been a relative? I have been unable to determine Isaac's ancestry.
Hey Sandi, I found Lorinda's e-mail... Lorilu725@aol.com... Might try there also, (I don't know how often she reads this board.... )good luck, and if I come across Andre I will give you a buzz. 1964 ? Hmmmm, might try SSAN listings, found some of my folks there. Mike
Wilma - Quoting from this typescript, mentioned before, "Descendants of Robert Seeley (1)" compiled by the Seeley Genealogical Soc. in April, 1977, Vol. I, page 6, are shown the children of Nathaniel Seeley I, and his first wife, Mary (Turney). i. NATHANIEL SEELEY (b ca 1650, New Haven; d Mar 28 1687, Fairfield) ii. ROBERT SEELEY (b ca 1653, New Haven; d ca 1690, Fairfield) iii. BENJAMIN SEELEY (b ca 1657/8, Fairfield; d 1695/96, perhaps NJ) iv. JOSEPH SEELEY (b ca 1659/60, Fairfield; Sept 16, 1732, Cecil Co., Md.) v. JOHN SEELEY (b ca 1661/62, Fairfield; d 1707-1710, Stratfield, Conn.) vi. *HANNAH SEELEY (b July 10, 1663 (?), Fairfield, Conn.) (Note: She was left out of your list of ch) vii. MARY SEELEY (b 1663 (?), Fairfield, Conn.) m. Jonathan Squires (son of George Squires and Ann (____). viii. SARAH SEELEY (b 1665, Fairfield, Conn. m Samuel Squires (son of George, above) ix. PHEBE SEELEY (b ca 1667/68, Fairfield, Conn) x. JAMES SEELEY (b 1668; d 1671, Fairfield, Conn) xi. REBECCA SEELEY (b ca 1669/70, Fairfield, Conn) It is probable that since this book was published in 1977, there would have been some additional info added, or other changes made in the material, of which I am unaware. I purchased my copy in 1993, for a very reasonable price, and it looks like copies are still available from their website: http://home.att.net/~seelyegen/books.html Hope this helps! Dolores

I found a great Fairfield County Genealogy Site: http://65.10.15.149/FreeGen/Home.html They will be adding over 1 billion names to their online database over the next few months.
Since most people prior to 1800 or so were Congregational, i would presume hearing a city name with church that they would be so and start searching there...if the church was Trinity or a saints name, i would look at Episcopal...but if the man had an obviously ethnic name...i would look at early Roman Catholic churches << Hello Listers, I hope someone can help me with this question-----In > "The Families of Old Fairfield" by D. L. Jacobus I notice in the > footnotes, at the bottom of his pages, references to baptism's and > marriage's, in churches such as "Trinity Church", "Greenfield Church", > or simply "Weston" or "Eston". Does anyone know what denomination these > churches were? I thought Baptist but now I want to be sure. Thank you > for your time! Margaret in NV > >>
My fifth greatgrandparents were: Issac P. Reynolds born June 6, 1778 in Greenwich, Ct. He died June 5, in 1850 i Bedford, N.Y. and Prudence Ann Seely born March 8, 1782 i Bedford. Issacs parents were : Daniel Reynolds born in Greenwich in 1714 and died probably in Coutland Manor, N.Y. and Hannah.........? Issac and Prudence's grandaughter was Annie Elizabeth Reynolds (whom my mother was named after ), married to my gggrandfather, Timothy Downs of Greenwich. I have their original marriage certificate. I have seen and read the well kept original church records in the Church that my Reynolds ancestors attended. I have an extensive genealogy that I have written over the years on my Reynolds and spouses lines. Marianne Dunnell

Hello, More than a month ago, I posted a note about the threat to the MEAD family estate in Greenwich, Fairfield County, CT. I'm not sure what the status is today, but thought you might like to see some of the photos--generously contributed by Mr. Gerald W. Mead, <jerry.mead@home.net> The link to the pages are at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ctfairfi/pages/fairfieldfotos/fffotos_012.htm Last month, Deacon Jeffrey Mead, president of the Mead Burial Grounds Association, Inc., sent me a press release. It announced the launch of the website. This is the link to the announcement I posted at the Fairfield County USGenWeb Project Message boards: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=message&r=rw&p=localities.northam.usa.st ates.connecticut.counties.fairfield&m=3320 The link to Deacon Mead's site is: http://www.meadburyinggrounds.org/ Finally, if you want to speak out against this threat to the Mead family and Greenwich history, here is a letter that I posted from Deacon Mead, with suggestions for next steps! I am not certain the status of this situation, but I'll keep you posted as soon as I learn more.
