    2. Kathy Campbell
    3. In the 1950 city directory for Danbury/Bethel, I noticed a couple of people whose occupation was given as "wetter-down." Would that have been someone who worked in the hatting industry? Perhaps, having something to do with the formation of hats or something? Thanks. Kathy

    1. MURRAY/MURRY and O'Neil Research
    2. D.D. Johnston
    3. Hello, List: I am new to the list and I need your help. I have recently discovered leads in my MURRAY research that point to Fairfield Co. Specifically, I'm seeking: Terrence Murray in Stamford, Ct Julia [Murray] O'Neil in Norwalk, CT, and Patrick Murray in Bridgeport, CT The document I found places them in the above areas circa 1900. I am trying to obtain enough information to "narrow down" year of death for each of them so I can obtain death certificates. All of the above were born in Westchester Co., NY in 1859, 1867 and 1869, respectively. I am also trying to determine which Catholic churches existed in the above communities (circa 1900). TIA for any help or suggestions you might offer. Divina

State didn;t require births to registrated until later. I would try some of the area churchs to see if any baptism records can be located. I found some births recorded for the town of Sherman so maybe try an locate information that way. FHL website is: familysearch.org they have many town records on microfilm. Hope this little bit of information may help.

    1. DUVAL surname in BRIDGEPORT
    2. I have just joined this list. I recently came across some notes indicating my great grandfather's sister lived and died in Bridgeport. I have requested a copy of her death certificate {Don't know if I can get it--not sure of exact date of death}. Her name was ELLA DUVAL {also spelled DEVAL, DIDWALL and DUVALL}. She might have also used the name BALUNIUS. She died in 1942 and was in her early 50's having been born in Pennsylvania and raised in waterbury. Never married, she worked as a waitress and spent time in Bermuda during the winter. Pennsylvania vitals have not been able to come up with a birth certificate because i don't know her exact date of birth or her parent's names {Obviously, that is why I want the certificate--if I knew I would not need it!} If some one has access to 1940s and late 1930's Bridgeport City directories, I would appreciate your help in locating this person. I spoke to my mother and she said she lived with relatives in Bridgeport. I am just in New Haven but won't be able to get to Bridgeport in the near future. Thanks, and if I can help anyone in NH let me know. BTW--if I do get to BPT--is the vital records office open all week? {I am a member of CSG} and does the library have obits from BPT papers? Judy
