Mary's father was Frederick Silliman born abt. 1867. He married Minnie and in 1930 was living on a dairy farm in Easton with his sister Maude. This sounds like your family. I am not a direct link to the Sillimans, so I haven't paid them much attention, but I do know that here are several historic Silliman homes preserved in Easton.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/TZ.2ADE/4028.1.2 Message Board Post: Ambrose Crofut is the son of Zalmon Crofut born 1792, Feb. 25. Zalmon is the son of John Crofut b. 1735. Newton seems to be the area of residence. In many of the records on line it shows Stephen Crofut and Adrea Couch as the father of Zalmon Crofut. However, in the conneticut records it is shown as John Crofut, brother of Stephan is actually the father of Zalmon and that Ester Sanford was his mother. Who ever did the sight on Gen.com has the same information. what I can't figure out is why so many people have it wrong or are they right? The information I received from the Conneticut library show Redding/Newton as the township or origin. I still haven't found out how Zalmon had so many kids and no wife, but one can only use their imagination. If you have any other information, I'd love to hear it. I do have a lot of pictures back to about the mid 1800's of the Crowfut's. Wished I had something more of the later families such as pictures of the area, housing and etc! , but think I've done okay. The last time I was there the microfilm machines are located toward the back of the library. Also you can go directly to the town clerks office and get the death certificate. They allow genealogist do to research if you are looking for other records. When I was there they did ask if I belonged to a Genealogy Group. That was a few years ago. Give them a call before you go to see if this is still there policy. Good Luck!

Most libraries have local newspapers on microfilm and will do a search for a fee. Also if you have not yet done so I would suggest you get a death certificate from the town clerk.
