    1. Re: Carleys born Wilton, 1750s
    2. We have at least 2 children - Albert and Jonathan Carley - who are known by other evidence to have been born in the Wilton area in the 1750s. It is unknown whether they were born to John and Sarah Sherwood Carley or to John and Sarah's son Abraham, also born in the area, and his wife Susannah. Abraham, b @ 1731/2 is said to have served in the CT militia during the F & I Wars and to have died of unrelated causes before 1759 when his widow remarried Thaddeus Gray. The John Carley family moved into the Oblong before 1760 according to the Will of her father, David Sherwood. Were Albert and Jonathan the sons of John and Sarah or Abraham and Susannah? A second Abraham and Susannah Carley family are also known to have existed at the same time - this Abraham and Susannah, nee Brookins, later lived in Hillsdale, Columbia, NY, and are said to have had children born in Fairfield Co., CT - Is there any way to find out which of the Abrahams had which of the children? There was also a Joseph Carley (Carle) in the area in the 1720s - does anyone have information about him? Can anyone shed some light on these matters? Judy Schreiber Valdosta, GA

A few years ago, I borrowed a book called "Morse Genealogy, Comprising the Descendants of Samuel, Anthony, William and Joseph Morse and JOHN MOSS, Being a Revision of the Memorial of the Morses, Published by Reverend Abner Morse in 1850." (1903); and "Section Two." I borrowed the book through the NEHGS Circulating Library, but you may find the book through an ILL, if not a member of NEHGS--or filmed from the LDS FHC folks. 3. I'm looking for the parents of Lyman PORTER who was born Nov. 1805 in Weston, Ct. He married about 1830 in Sherman, Mary JOYCE, daughter of Stephen and Thankful (CONGER) JOYCE. Mary was born in Sherman, 28 Feb. 1810. Lyman died in Bethel, 30 May 1882, and Mary, his wife, died at Bethel, 18 Sept. 1894. I believe that Lyman had a brother Nelson, born about 1801 and the their father may have been named John PORTER, but I can't find a record for that. Connecticut Families by Cutter and in Biographical Sketches for Fairfield County, both say that Lyman was the son of Noah and Nabby (CUMMINGS) PORTER, but I am sure that this is incorrect. That Lyman removed to Illinois. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Harry Walden, Georgetown, TX http://www.rootsweb.com/~ctmiddle/midlsxco.htm http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hmwalden

Also you can try to write a form letter to all the Reilly's. I realize this is costly but it may give you a good result. I have had to do this with several relatives as the last name was Baker that I was searching for in Danbury. Another thing if some one can trace using the telephone directory. Since you seem to know where he lives in 1963. Otherwise, good luck.
