My ggg grand father was Douglass Bacon Married to Cassandra Bacon. I am not sure when Douglass was born - I do know that in 1843 he was still alive and was about 80 ( ballpark ) - I know that Cassandra was in the 1850 census ( he was not ) and was 78 at that time and she was about 10 years younger than he. the best that I have been able to determine is that they had at least 4 children - Joseph D ( Driver ), Susan Allen, Earl - Joseph D was in Pickens County Alabama in 1840 - marrried Louisia Carmichael within 3 years? and they had seven children - John, Sheldon, Louisia, Joseph, Armand, Earl and Edgar - the first 3 born in Alabama and the others born in Texas. I have alot of other information continuing this line but have only been working on alll of this for the past month. Let me know if this is any infor! mation that you need - as I said earlier I was told that this line stems from Nathaniel but have not confirmed this myself. Have a nice Day - Kathy

I am looking to open a genealogy library in California after I receive my masters in Library Science. (probably at least 4 years from now). Also, if anyone wants to send their family pedigrees or history to me that would be great too! Feel free to email me with any questions. Thank you! Amy

If you can't get to the state library I would suggest you go to the website www.familysearch.org and click on library sources. It will give you the microfilm numbers for Bridgeport and also at the main menu it will list the nearest family history library to you. Cost to you would be about $3.25 per roll but several directories can be on a microfilm. Another thing try the Bridgeport Public Library they may have the directories on their selves. I found this when I went to Danbury Public Library. I like doing my own research in this area as I find other relatives that are living in the same area. Hopefully this may be the case for you. I do hope that this will help you.

Go to www.libraryspot.com and on the left hand column is public libraries. It will take you into a site that has several websites for public libraries. I use the one for 50 states. Click on Connecticut and look for Stamford. Most public libraries have newspapers on microfilm from that time period to present. If they don't have it on microfilm ask for the historical society of Stamford. They be able to help you out. Hope this will help you.

Elizabeth (my grandmother) was born in Hungary in about 1895. The family emigrated to the US probably between 1910 and 1915. There were also several other children - among them a Stephen. I have tried searching Ellis Island but no luck. I know some of their sons ended up in Detroit. Elizabeth married Joseph Secskas and stayed in Bridgeport CT.

I would guess that Robert was the son of William Meeker and Elizabeth Preson, sister of marie Preson who married Peter Mallory...supposedly. Meeker came to Boston in spring 1635 with Daniel Preston, brother of Marie and Elizabeth. He was 14 when he arrived and probably stayed with the Prestons as guests of Capt Christopher Gibson in Dorchester MA. Gibson was Daniel Preston's uncle by way of marriage to Sarah Sale, Preston's mother's sister.
