I haven't replied until now since I have made contact with St. Augustine's and know that I'm on the right track. Let it be confirmed: St. Augustine's is alive and well. The archivist gave me this general information about their records: "The older books are brittle and fragile. The ink in many cases is faded with styles of writing varied and more or less legible. Reading them (and there are records back to 1843) in many cases is quite challenging. Some are in English, others are in Latin. Unfortunately, our funeral/death records begin with 1951. My understanding that some of our records were stored in a church in New Haven which was destroyed in a fire."

    1. Re: [CTFAIRFI] Henry F. Kyle Funeral Home in Bethel CT
    2. There is not such a home listed in the current telephone book. The only funeral home listed in the yellow pages for Bethel is: Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave.. The Bethel Funeral Home is listed at the same address also as Hull Funeral Service (jeffery H. & John H. Hull). -- Allen J. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/TZ.2ADE/4490 Message Board Post: Hello: Have my back against the wall on this one would appreciate any help. My great great great grandfather was Enos R. Booth. According to the 1850 Census in Hardyston Twp, Sussex County, NJ it says he was born in Connecticut and was 40 years of age. Many of his children also use Connecticut to list their fathers place of birth. Except my great great grandfather (Enos' son) used Bath, New York. I tend to believe that Enos was born in Conn. and later must have lived in Bath, NY. Enos died at a young age...in his 40's and during a time that there were no vital records in NJ. I cant find a grave for him...and it seems that he has been lost in time. I need to learn more about him...especially who his parents were if I were to continue work on my Booth line. I am sort of dead ended at him. If there is anyone who ever comes across this name or if anyone does research at the State Archives in Hartford could help me i would appreciate it very much. Thanks, JIM BOOTH Highland Mills, Orange County, New York [email protected] PS: Not certain if Enos was from Fairfield...but i am posting here just in case

    1. St. Michael's Cemetery
    2. I finally tracked down my great grandfather's sister's date of death as 1901 in Bridgeport. She was buried in St. Michael's.. Anyway, when I called the cemetery office, the very nice lady told me all records before 1906 were destroyed by a fire. She said it probably would not have given me much info other than the location of the grave. The death certificate was very complete--Anastasia {sue} Bungard Didwall Balunas emmigrated from Lithuania, married two times, had 11 children and died at the age of 39 in Bridgeport Connecticut. Quite a lot to pack into 39 years. She left a 14 month old and a twelve year old child. Judy

    1. Re: CHARLES EDWARD VALENTINE
    2. I need a miracle! For many years I have searched for the birth record of my Grandfather, CHARLES EDWARD VALENTINE. Hopefully this document will list his parents and their birth date and place of birth. This would "do it all" for me! My Grandfather's Death Certificate records his birth only as "1856 Brooklyn, NY" He appears in the 1870 Census at age 18 living in Norwalk, CT. where he spent the rest of his life in the hat trade and died Jan. 21 1918, Norwalk, CT He married Annie McClusky/ McCluskey/ McCloskey. Where and when is unknown but their first of seven childern was born in Norwalk in 1879. Annie was born in North Castle , England in 1851 and died March 1910, Norwalk, CT. They had seven children. Neither Town, Church or Cemetery records note CHARLES E. VALENTINE's parents names or place of birth or address. This has been my "Brick Wall" and the bricks have not given in! Norm
