Early vital records were kept in the towns. Lucius Barbour of the CT State Library asked all town clerks to send in their records and in a large numbr of cases this was done. The Library has an alphabetical list for the entire state on small file cards--called the Barbour Records. These cards have been microfilmed and can be accessed through the Family History Centers of the Mormon Church. There are also, at the Library, typescripts for many towns. Recently, vital records for some towns are being published, and some web sites for the towns are posting early records. Check out the website for the CT State Library for more information. It may be that they will do a look-up for one name. www.usgenweb.com will take you to CT and to many helpful sites there.
