In the Ecclesiastical Affairs Series 1 of the CT Archives I find a document that is of interest to my research of Thomas Brooks in Bolton, CT. It begins: "To the Honorable the General Assembly of his Majesty Colony of Connecticut ??? May 1749. ??? inhabitants of the North ? of Bolton in Hartford County ..." Can't read all the writing but it appears to be a request for a minister. The signers of the document (17 different names) are all in different handwritings. My question is: Are there any implications of signing such a document in 1749. Does it tell us this person is a land owner, etc. etc. etc.?
