    1. [CRV] About the CHURCHILLS, BUMP, PHILLIPS, etc. families
    2. Elizabeth Phillips
    3. Thanks for all your help... you are appreciated. B-) After I wrote that long post, I started looking at some of the website info on CT, particularly census records of 1790 as I could for the various counties in CT and MA looking for PHILLIPS, CHURCHILL, BUMP, and CLEVELAND. Forgot to mention about the CLEVELAND family. I found some PHILLIPSes, CLEVELANDS, and CHURCHILLS. No BUMPs. Turns out after I checked out my records that the name is BUMP. There's more to the story, too. Also some kind soul sent me some PHILLIPes from around NH early also. Don't know what will check out, but there were some in Wethersfield. Fancy that!! What next?? B-) Still have to sort it out though. Maybe something will work out yet. Eugene Cleveland PHILLIPS (the main person mentioned in the Missouri State History published in 1911) has the name Cleveland for a middle name. And a genealogist and history buff from Wyoming County, WNY suggested maybe William H.'s wife or mother might have been a CLEVELAND. The family used a lot of family names over the years. For instance, 1. my husband is Ernest Churchill Phillips Jr. 2. his father is Ernest Churchill Phillips Sr. 3. my husband's brother is Edward Vaughan Phillips (Edward Vaughan was their mother's father also from Ireland, but much later and to Canada first) 4. a still-born baby brother to my husband was to be named Daniel Armstrong Phillips, Edward Vaughan's wife's maiden name - Armstrong) 5. Ernest Sr.'s brother was Edwin Pierson Phillips 6. Ernest Sr.'s sister was Gertrude Phileta Phillips (Phileta Pierson married Wm. H.) and so forth and so forth ..... So, I will try to find the FOOTEs. And write again to the BUMP list, and poke around in MA, CT, and NH, and maybe NY some more. There are some other developments, too, which I won't bother to write here until I get more straightened out. I did go to an Irish website and one called Ray's Place last night to look for boats before 1800. No PHILLIPS. No CLEVELANDs. No CHURCHILLS. No BUMPS. Oh, well, I am sure I have not exhausted what's around. Will subscribe to MBC list, though it might be too early for every one but the PIERSONs. Thought originally we could trace the PHILLIPS family through the PIERSONS, since they were so much better known, but some times it doesn't work that way, does it? Again thanks for all the help.
