Wilma: Sorry for the delay, but I did find something that may or may not help. According to Jones, Elizabeth E. Boice, Captain John Grout of Watertown and Sudbury, Massachusetts and some of his descendants : a contribution toward a genealogy of the Grout and allied families with special reference to the line of Henry Whittemore Grout of Waterloo, Iowa Waterloo, Iowa: H.W. Grout, 1922, 141 pgs. Page 67 shows a Daniel GEER, born 15-June-1700, son of Daniel and ? Geer. Daniel Geer married Abigail Spicer 31-May-1750. The book does not carry this line any further. Daniel(1) settled at Preston, Connecticut, where his children (including Daniel(2) were born. (If you think this may be your Daniel, let me know, there is more info.) This information seems to have been copied from the Geer genealogy which shows your Abel as the son of this Daniel. (2) Robert, born 25 November, 1754; married Salvina Gates 33 (3) Nathan, born 12 December 1756; married 1st Mary Gates; marrie 2nd Olive Gates, sister of Salvina Gates. (4) Abel, born 27 May, 1759. (5) Jacob, mnarried Tammy Partridge (6) Abigail, married Stephen Herrick. (7) Mary, married Zoath Tucker (8) Alathea, married Eleazer Herrick As can be seen, there is no more about Abel in this book. Interestingly, there was a John Spicer who married a Mary Geer in Groton, CT and had sedveral children. While my source only provides info on one child (a son), it might be worth checking out.
