    1. [CRV] Bodman Ltr from Lewis Bodman to his Luther Bodman
    2. I received a jpg file this afternoon from Guy Bishop (Bishopline@aol.com) in which he shared the following letter. Guy has the original letter dated Feb. 12, 1849. I thought this might be of interest to the readers of the list. I believe Lewis & Luther were sons of Luther Bodman of Williamsburg, Mass. Luther Bodman md. Philena Hawks, dau. of Israel Hawks & Mary (Polly) Mitchell. Lewis Bodman md. Emily Caroline Nash dau of Elisha Nash & Experience Claghorn. Oliver - I believe this to be Oliver Nash - brother to Emily Caroline Nash. Dear Brother, Oliver starts for Ohio in the morning - I went to Northampton to day, & raised $1500 for him to take out for the purpose of driving hogs.  I wrote to Jos.  a short time since that if he could buy small hogs for 1-½ to 1-¾ that he might commence buying at once, and Oliver would bring out funds - I got his answer Sat. eve.  & raised the funds to-day - Mr. Williams say he will do anything but lend money to go to California - says he should rather do almost anything than aid, or assist in aiding the gold fever.  Jos. has about 100 hogs on hand and I think will get 6 or 800 head by early in March. If his Pail ash is not sold I think it better be.  I should like to get hold of the bal [balance] if its avails, as I paid for his good at C. H. & Co. last Spring - 400 $ I  conclude he has made a/c [account] of 3 or 400 $ worth of cloth left and sent to him this past season.  Hawkins  expects to take change of the hogs after they are bot [bought]. Yours &c Lewis Bodman Feb 12 1849.
