"The founding of the Baptist Church in Ira ( Rutland County, VT) extends back into Colonial days before Vermont was organized as a State, by the adoption of its present Constitution and before the adoption of the United States Constitution." The "History of the Baptist Church of Ira" by W. G. Cooper, published in 1925, [covering membership from 1783 - 1925] has been transcribed and submitted to the Vermont-L Web Site by Patty Pickett. Also included are "handwritten notes in the end of the book indicate(ing) additional names" of members for the years 1936-37. Thank you Patty, for your continued dedication to transcribing the myriad of records of our ancestors who lived in Rutland County. Due to the length of this transcription, these transcriptions have been divided into two parts and are accessible from the main gateway page, by clicking on the "Latest Additions" button (located in the middle of the page): http://www.rootsweb.com/~vermont/VERMONTGATEWAY.html Best wishes and good luck with your search, Karima VERMONT Mailing List (VERMONT-L) http://userweb.springnet1.com/quest/VERMONT/VermontWelcome.html
