    2. First Generation 1. Dea. Daniel BLISS was born on 16 NOV 1726 in Rehoboth, Bristol, M assachusetts. Marriage intention was recorded on 22 AUG 1752 He died on 27 JAN 1801 in Leyden, Franklin, Massachusetts. He was buried in Farm Cemetery, South Leyden on Greenfield Road, , Massachusetts. The epitaph on Deacon Bliss' gravestone in the small cemetery on the East side of County Road at Leyden, reads as follows: "Stranger, see as you pass by A you are now, so once was I, As I was once,so you must be, Prepare for Death, and follow me." On May 9, 1773 Deacon Bliss and several others were appointed a committee to build a new meeting house. He enlisted in 1777 in Capt. Gideon Burt's Company, Col. David Leonard's Massachusetts Regiment during the Revolutionary War. From the Providence (R.I.) Gazette, Nov. 5, 1774: "Daniel Bliss of Rehoboth, has lately buried five of his children: Daniel, age 22, Hezekiah, age 20, Sarah, age 15 (?), son Comfort, age 15 (?) and youngest daughter, 16 months. Second Generation 4. Dr. James BLISS (Daniel-1) was born on 19 APR 1757. He died on 29 SEP 1834. Brownson and Blackington, began his career at Wrentham, Mass., at about the age of twenty-one and remained there one year, during which time he was married (1778) to Miss Hannah Guild of Attleboro, Mass. He then removed to Rehoboth, were he was very successful in his profession and was much esteemed as a skillful physician. At the age of about nineteen he was for several months Surgeon's Mate in Col. Carpenters' Regiment in the Revolutionary Army and was in the battle of White Plains. During the years 1815, 1816 and 1820, Dr. Bliss represented the town in the General Court of Massachusetts. He was a man of sound judgment, strict integrity and great ability, industry and economy. Dr. James BLISS and Hannah GUILD were married in 1778 in Attleboro, Bristol, Massachusetts. Hannah GUILD died on 5 OCT 1816 in Rehoboth, Bristol, Massachusetts.
