    1. [CRV] Hungerfords Torrington & Harwinton, CT
    2. Peggy J Knox
    3. The Hunger fords didn't show up in this area until the very end of the 18th century and into the 19th century. The first one in Torrington was John. They may be cousins, but not direct descendents of Thomas Hungerford. The main Hungerford names are Aaron of Harwinton, and Newman of Hartford, but born in Harwinton. Charlotte Hungerford Hospital was built by Neuman, I think, but don't quote me. However, the Torrington Historical Society had an exhibit about the hospital about ten years ago. The Torrington Historical Society's director is Mark McEarchan, and the Torrington Historian is Ernie Cedar. He knows everything about Torrington, and what he doesn't know, he'll find out. I know this because I use to volunteer for the Torrington Historical Society. How they can be reached: Torrington Historical Society 192 Main Street Torrington, CT 06790 (860) 482-8260 Hours Mon-Fri 9 a.m.-4:00 p.m If you want to find out about Harwinton, I suggest you write or call the Harwinton Public Library 80 Bentley Drive Harwinton, CT 06791 (860) 485-9113 Hope this helps.
