Colchester, New London, CT, son of Joseph and Emily SMITH. Would anyone have a Joseph and Emily SMITH of Colchester in their line? Marriage record indicates John was a 'seaman' - but was living in the middle of WI. The Mormons had leased sawmills in Jackson Co, WI for production of lumber for Nauvoo settlement, so it is possible there is a connection to that SMITH family. Marilyn in Michigan
