He died on 2 JUL 1822 in Canandaigua, Ontario, New York. While residing in Wethersfield, Conn., he enlisted, May 1777, as a private in Col. S. B. Webb's Regt., and was afterwards appointed Corporal. Three years later, when his term expired, he was transferred to the Commissary Department, as Deputy to Col. Oliver Phelps, where he remained until the close of the war. He was then for a time in the Comptroller's office at Hartford. After his marriage, he settled first in Pittsfield, Mass., and then in Hudson, N.Y. Soon after 1800, he removed to Canandaigua, where he was the Agent of the School Fund of Connecticut until his death. He also held the position of President of the Utica Branch Bank in Canandaigua, and was of the vestry of St. John's Church. He formed one of the expedition sent in 1814 to defend Rochester from an expected attack by Sir James Yeo, then cruising at the mouth of the Genesee River. He was chosen 20 Dec. 1720, one of the inspectors to see that the act concerning the cutting of wood on the Commons be duly executed, and reappointed 1721, 1726, 1728, 1732, and 1739. He was chosen Selectman, 17 dec 1724. He was Surveyor of Highways, 6 Dec. 1743, and one of the Inspectors of Wood. He was Sergeant of the Hartford Train Band. He and his wife were admitted to the South Church, 23 June 1723. On 14 Feb 1754, Zachariah Seymour of Hartford conveyed to Zachariah Seymour of Harwinton, Conn., all his right to undivided land in Hartford on the west side. On the same day Joseph Seymour and Rebecca Seymour, both of Hartford, and Jacob Hinsdale and wife Hannah of Harwinton conveyed to Zachariah Seymour of Harwinton all their right to any property they might have from their honored father, Zachariah Seymour of Hartford.
