I am totally frustrated in trying to trace Aaron Parks. He was, per his Rev War papers, born either in Preston or Norwich 5 Oct 1764 - but no records exist. Then, he enlisted in the Rev War 26 Nov 1780 from Ashford and the enlistment is for the duration of the war. We know - from a pension support statement -- from Asahel Williams, that in 1780 Aaron resided about 1/2 mile from him; Asahel Williams was from Union, Tolland County. But I can find NO Parks families in Ashford or Union. If there, it was brief. Aaron "should" be part of the Park/e/s family of Connecticut, but he is not listed in any references that I have yet found. According to The Walker Memorial, Aaron married Rachel Walker in Sept 1785. Since her parents resided in Ashford, it is likely the marriage took place there. But, again, no records. Nor any for their two oldest children also likely born in Ashford. Yet, there are remarkable strings of records about Aaron - many entries in Connecticut in the Revolution; many land records once in Vermont and later NY, but NO vital records. Is someone on the list an expert on the Union/Ashford area for the period of 1780-1790? We know he was there then and, hopefully, had relatives nearby. I don't know what significance to attach to Aaron signing up for the duration of the war. Was it poverty? Patriotism? (A great-grandson's biography indicates that Aaron's father died in defense of his country; but there are a lot of undocumented Park/e/s from CT who served in war). Any help appreciated. Cheryl
