Jonathan Marsh was to New Hartford largely what his brother Capt. John Marsh, 20 years older, was to Litchfield, an explorer one of the first three selectman, and the second on the list of earliest settlers. He explored in 1733 and removed with his family in 1736. "He lived on a hill where he had a splendid view of hills and valleys." His children were mainly born at Hartford. Born 1688 this Patriarch of the New Harthford line d. 1783 ae. 95. After Jonathan Marsh's death in 1783, Elizabeth (Loomis) Marsh went to Hartford and lived, until her death in 1795, 12 years with this daughter Hannah. When Thomas Wadsworth died his widow Hannah removed to Whitesborough, N.Y. and lived with her sister Lois (Marsh) White until her, Mrs. Judge White's death in 1829, and then lived with her nephew, Dea.
