Lived in South Manchester, Conn., until 1854, when he removed to Waterloo, Iowa, where he engaged in farming until his death. Eleazur HOLLISTER and Caroline M. HUBBARD were married about 1828. 3. Caroline M. HUBBARD was born on 14 JAN 1802. She died on 13 NOV 1861 in Waterloo, Black Hawk, Iowa. Eleazur HOLLISTER and Caroline M. HUBBARD had the following children: i. HOLLISTER. Third Generation 4. Josiah HOLLISTER was born on 21 FEB 1756 in Glastonbury, Hartford, Connecticut. He died on 8 SEP 1849 in South Manchester, Hartford, Connecticut. He was born in Eastbury Society, Glastonbury, Conn. He served under Gen. Washington in the Revolution, and used to entertain his descendants with stories of his commander, and especially of Lady Washington, for whom he once made a wardrobe, which gave her great satisfaction, but him still more, as he never tired of telling of it. He was a tall, straight, active, strong, and ambitious. He enjoyed vigorous health until he was more than seventy years of age, and retained a considerable degree of strength and his sight, hearing, and memory until his death. He settled in what is now South Manchester, Conn., and the farm which he owned is now owned by the husband of his great-granddaughter, Mrs. Martha (Hollister) Taylor. Josiah HOLLISTER and Asenath SWETLAND were married. 5. Asenath SWETLAND was born on 15 SEP 1763. She died on 5 JUN 1844. Josiah HOLLISTER and Asenath SWETLAND had the following children: i. When about 21 years of age he was appointed constable and collector of the Parish, and about 1823, he was deptuy-sheriff of Hartford County. For about 7 years after 1820 he was Captain of Militia. He was about five feet seven inches in height, spare in flesk had black hair and eyes, was active, ambitious, quick, and apt in business affairs, and prominently interested in the welfare of the town. When about 40 years of age, he over-lifted himself at a house-raising, and bled profusely from the lungs. He never fully recovered from the effects of his injury, and had poor health for several years after. ii. Grove HOLLISTER was born on 29 JAN 1790 in South Manchester, Hartford, Connecticut.
