He served in the Revolutionary war, in the Light Horse, and afterwards in the Infantry. When Major Ande was hung, he was on guard one mile from the place of execution. She wa a wise and prudent woman, and a notable manager of a large estate. She "let" the farm until her eldest son came to manhood. Mary Ann MARTIN and Capt. James CHAMBERLAIN were married on 20 Nov 1795 in Peacham, Caledonia, Vermont. Capt. James CHAMBERLAIN (son of Jacob CHAMBERLAIN and Elizabeth MELLEN) died in 1804.
